A NOTE FROM ME
First week of school is nearly done! Hopefully the sleep and early morning routine is settling back in without too much struggle. The reward is a genuinely good Caroline weekend: a farmers' market, a dollar sale, a local business birthday. Take a breath. August is worth savoring before it slips away.
GOOD NEWS IN CAROLINE
Caroline County is getting a Publix! On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an incentive agreement for a 53,400 square foot store at Route 1 and Ladysmith Road, part of the Madison Towne Center development in Ladysmith.
For anyone who has made the drive to Fredericksburg or Ashland for groceries, you’ll soon have a closer option. A full-size grocery store on our side of the county line means jobs, convenience, and one less reason to leave Caroline to run errands.
No opening date yet. The agreement is the green light to build, so watch this space.

FUN FACT ABOUT CAROLINE
Secretariat, the 1973 Triple Crown winner and arguably the greatest racehorse in American history, was born at The Meadow near Doswell in Caroline County. His records at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes still stand today. The farm is a National Historic Landmark. Horse people around the world know that name. It started right here.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!
